FAQ - Hair transplants

Here you can find frequently asked questions and our responses. This list of questions is updated constantly and extended.

When do the transplanted hairs start to grow after I-FUE hair transplantation?

With my developed I-FUE method, more than 10 to 15 % of the transplanted donor hair starts to grow immediately after the transplantation. The other hair follicles only start producing a new hair after 6 to 8 weeks. As the growth of the transplanted hair is asynchronous and also batched, the final result of the hair transplantation can be expected between 10 and 12 months after the treatment.

It should be mentioned here that about 2 to 8 % of the transplanted hair start to grow immediately after the classical FUE method and the so called strip technology method.

What are the expenses of hair transplantation on I-FUE method?

A graft / transplant amounts 4.00 € to 6.00 € per hair transplant of the head and 5.00 € per body hair transplant.

It is true that, after hair transplantation, the transplanted hair can never shed again?

The used transplants will be extracted from the so called “save donor area“. This donor hair is not affected by alopecia. This is why it is so important to find out, how far the genetically loss of hair can develop in each case. Only with the answer to this question, the hair surgeon will be able to define the hair which is not affected by the genetically loss of hair and to extract only non-affected hair for the transplantation.
Solely extracted transplants from the “save area“ can be seen as hair, which is not affected by genetically loss of hair. Even after the transplantation in other areas, the hair will keep its genetically healthy characteristics. The will grow there in the long term and do not shed under normal conditions.

A colleague alleged that less than 30% of the patients with a genetically loss of hair suit for a FUE or rather I-FUE hair transplantation. Is that true? What do you mean?

Unfortunately there are colleagues who, for several reasons (lack of knowledge or in order to promote outdated methods due to own experiences), criticise the modern, gentle and without any complications given methods for hair transplants. Based on the lasting negative results, outdated methods like the strip technology / FUT and the punch technology should not be applied anymore today, simply out of respect for the patients. They go hand-in-hand with two serious complications:

  • huge and wide scars
  • thinning of the hair inferior and around the scar due to a trauma

My personal experience, as well as the experiences of two further FUE experts, has shown that the gentle FUE-method is applicable for every patient. None of us had to send a patient home again, untreated, because the FUE hair transplantation was not possible in his / her case. There is no other method given within the field of modern hair surgery which is more suitable for the different forms of hair loss (including the genetically loss of hair) than the FUE or rather I-FUE method.
